Who or what is Vosteen anyway?
Where does the name come from and what does it mean?
This name is in fact very little known and is often misunderstood or misspelled – Verstehn, Vonsteen, Vossten, Voosten, Vostee.
Identified by many as a Dutch or Belgian company, the name most likely originates from a small village Vosteen in the municipality of Ganderkesee. There is also a large stone with a hoofprint of the devil. There is a legend about it: A hunter went hunting on Sunday and saw a fox on a stone. He pulled the trigger, but he heard the devil’s laughter and the hoofprint remained. Since then, the hunter never went hunting on a Sunday again.
This is the meaning: fox stone.
